About

The origin of The Fletcher Trust Archives goes back to 1986, when it was established by Fletcher Challenge Ltd.

The corporate objective for the Archives was to ensure the preservation of records of long-term value relating to the history, functions, policies, organisation and activities of the three companies which formed the Group – Fletcher Holdings Ltd, Challenge Corporation Ltd and Tasman Pulp & Paper Ltd – along with those of their predecessor businesses.

In 2001, with the break-up of the Fletcher Challenge Group, the Archives was transferred to guardianship and management of The Fletcher Trust.

The role of The Archives is to preserve the records and to provide public access, while remaining an information source for Fletcher Building.

This unique repository of New Zealand social and economic history sits alongside The Trust’s other charitable activities which include a prestigious art collection and educational philanthropy.

The Archives is located in Penrose, Auckland.
